On Friday, the US Supreme Court voted to overturn the 1973 Roe vs. Wade ruling. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told the British crowd to renounce his United States citizenship over Roe vs. Wade decision.
The decision from six voters to three was made in the specific case, which returns all questions of legality and access to abortion to the individual states. UN Human Rights chief Michael Bachelet opposed this decision.
The judgment guarantees access to abortion across the United States. Many experts discuss the decision as a 'huge blow to women's human rights and gender equality, citing voting in favor of a Mississippi law that outlaws abortion over 15 weeks.
For the first time since the 1970s, abortion will no longer be protected year-old Armstrong told the audience that he'd be spending more time across the Atlantic." F** America, I'm f**ng renouncing my citizenship," Mr. Armstrong expressed his frustration over the decision," I'm f*ing coming here."
"There's just too much f**ng stupid in the world goes back tp that miserable f**ing excuse for a country," he disapproves. "Oh, I'm not kidding. You're going to get a lot of me in the coming days."
The Basket Case singer talked about the topic during his show in Huddersfield, United Kingdom. During the show, he added before calling the Supreme Court; pricks said" F** the Supreme Court of America."
Since the ruling, several other musicians performing at the Glastonbury festival used their performances as opportunities to criticize the legislation last week. Billie Eilish, Phoebe Bridgers and Olivia Rodrigo condemned the verdict publicly.
As per UN experts, the Supreme Court completely disregarded the US binding legal obligations under international human rights law. While making his debut at the festival, singer Kendrick Lamar finished his set by delivering a statement that appeared to be in reply to Roe Vs. Wade.
"They judge me; they judge Christ. Godspeed for women's rights," declares the rapper before repeating the statement twice. "f** the Supreme Court," said New Zealand singer Lorde.
