Jim Carrey is selling his house in Los Angeles, where he has lived for a very long period.
"For the past three decades, it's been a sanctuary for me. However, I don't spend much time there anymore, and I'd like someone else to appreciate it just as much as I have." Carrey, 61, said in a statement to The Post on the decision to sell his home.
"Cha cha cha cha... Changes!" he added, referring to the well-known song by David Bowie.
The property, which is more than 12,700 square feet in size, has been put up for sale for a price of $28.9 million.
According to Yahoo, the Canadian-born comedian who shot to fame with his performance in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" paid $3.8 million for the estate in 1994, equivalent to about $7.71 million in today's dollars. The mansion features five bedrooms and nine bathrooms.
Carrey told the Wall Street Journal, the first publication to report on the listing, that the property was "a haven of enchantment and inspiration" for him during "30 very creative and lucrative years."
He said, "Every night, the owls sang me lullaby, and every morning I enjoyed my cup of coffee with the hawks and hummingbirds under a giant grandpa pine."
Carrey acquired the property just before the debut of his first critically acclaimed film, "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective."
As per the ad, the ranch home on two acres has a single story and is hidden from the street by 280 feet of hedged frontage in the wealthy neighborhood of Brentwood.
Fireplaces, vaulted or beamed ceilings, and skylights can be found in the living, dining, and family rooms. Glass doors open to a courtyard patio, creating an indoor-outdoor living space flooded with natural light.
The chef's kitchen features a breakfast room with windows that look out onto the pears trees in the garden. The "relaxing retreat" major suite offers a balcony, sitting area, fireplace, and wood-paneled bathroom with a fireplace and soaking tub.
A fitness center, an office, a cinema that includes a snack area, and more bedrooms with en suite bathrooms are also included.
A pool house with a bar, fireplace, infrared sauna, and steam room can be found in a separate building, in addition to a tennis court, gazebo, waterfall pool, and spa. There is even a vegetable garden in addition to several winding walks.
In 2013, Carrey sold his oceanfront property in Malibu, which he had purchased in 2002, for $13.4 million.
