The man, Richard Wayne Penniman, appreciated for taking Rock and Roll to the new heights expired on 9th May 2020.

Better known for his stage name, Little Richard, the musician was only 87 when he took his last breath in Tennesse on Saturday as his family members confirmed his death news.

Richard's friend, Reverend Bill Minson was among the first few ones who made the news official to AFP. And, the singer's death news arrived amidst the time when the world is hit by the pandemic COVID-19 that caused more than 200,000 death so far.

But, Little Richard's death cause is the bone cancer-related illness. His lawyer of three decades, Bill Sobel, informed AP via email. The Georgia born singer was at his brother's family house in Tennesse alongside his brother, sister, son, Danny Jones, whom he adopted with his former and only wife, Ernestine Harvin.

Richard had been ill for the last couple of months with conditions related to bone cancer. And, upon his death, celebrities including Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, and Sir Ringo Starr, former drummer for The Beatles, the English band that credits Richard for his music influence paid their tribute online.

Expressing his sadness and reminiscing the time he played with Richard on stage, Dylan tweeted, "He was my shining star and guiding light back when I was only a little boy. His was the original spirit that moved me to do everything I would do."

As for Starr, he posted a series of throwback pictures along with Richard and said, "God bless little Richard one of my all-time musical heroes. Peace and love to all his family."

Richard, the hitmaker of tunes like Tutti Frutti, Bama Lama Bama Loo, and Long Tall Sally sold more than 30 million records worldwide and earned nicknames including 'The Real King Of Rock 'N' Roll', 'The Emancipator', and 'War Hawk'.

At 15, Little Richard, among the twelfth children of his parents, was kicked out of home by his father, Charles Penniman, for being gay. During his childhood, he also suffered physical abuse from Penniman for being gay.

And, Richard who would later be awarded the title of Hall of Fame by the Grammy chose a different career path to stand out from his siblings.
