Mel has spoken up about being "powerless" throughout her decade-long relationship with abusive ex-husband Stephen Belafonte. However, one insider stated that Rory, whom she began dating in 2018, has restored her faith in men.

Rory proposed on one knee at the luxury country hotel Cliveden House in Berkshire. He gave her a £100,000 champagne-colored pear-shaped diamond ring adorned with smaller champagne diamonds set on a rose gold band.

"Mel is really pleased, and this is such a significant deal for her because she has been through so much," a source added. "It took a lot for a man to convince her to trust him and believe in love again."
