Queen Elizabeth Ii, whose rule spanned seven decades, died peacefully at Scottish residence in Balmoral castle in Scotland at 96. She was the longest-reigning and longest-lived monarch in British history.

Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning and longest-lived monarch in Britain's history, has died. The Royal Palace announced the Queen's death on Thursday. She had been placed under medical supervision at Balmoral Castle, her residence in Scotland, after the doctor became concerned about her health.

Other Buckingham palace said in the statement," The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and return to London tomorrow."

Bells will toll handguns, and salutes will soon be fired throughout the United Kingdom as the proclaiming heralds, Twitter, and broadcasters mark the death of one sovereign and the ascension of the new one.

The figurehead of the commonwealth of 2.4 billion people married Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey. She became Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand and Australia upon her father's death, George VI, in 1952.

Precisely, she wasn't directly in line to inherit the throne until her uncle, King Edward VIII, abdicated the throne and her father became King George VI. And Elizabeth was just 25 years old when she ascended to the throne after her coronation on June 2, 1953.

Upon her death at 96, her eldest and heir son Prince Charles immediately became king and will be called King Charles III. During her reign, Elizabeth turned up on the global stage. Her time on the throne saw her meet with  United States presidents, from Harry S. Truman to US president Joe Biden except for Lyndon Johnson.

Under a long-establish plan, "Operation London Bridge," her passing ushers in ten days of national mourning. As a young teen, she saw World War II's terror. At 14, she also made her first radio broadcast in 1940, addressing children who were evacuated to prevent the bombing of British cities.

Also, Charles, in a statement, said," The death of my beloved mother, her majesty the Queen, is a moment of great sadness for me and all members of my family. We mourn the passing of a cherished sovereign and much-loved mother profoundly."

As an aged monarch, she sailed through rolling storms of the modern age, including a deadly coronavirus pandemic to her grandson Prince Harry's decision to seek a more private life with his wife, Meghan Markle.
