Famous British television and radio presenter, Adrian Chiles, is the chief presenter for football coverage at ITV Sports and better known for co-hosting The One Show along with Christine Bleakley. Some of his popular TV shows include Working Lunch, Match of the Day 2, The Apprentice: You’re Fired!, The One Show, Daybreak, and That Sunday Night Show.

Early Life           

Born on 21st March 1967, Quinton, Birmingham, England, Adrian Chiles is the son of an English father and Croatian mother. He was four when he moved to Hagley, Worcestershire and spent his childhood there.

He attended Haybridge High School and used to work in his father’s Scaffolding business. He was also interested in acting and often participated in Crescent Theater musical production of Mary O’Malley’s Once A Catholic and Sandy Wilson’s The Cheese.

Later, he graduated with a degree in English Literature from the University of London and applied for Civil Service exam but failed. Then, he studied journalism at Cardiff and started working as a sports reporter for the News of the World.

Career

Chiles started his BBC career at a daily news program, Business Breakfast. Then he created, scripted and fronted different other programs including So What Do You Do All Day?, Asian millionaire and Royal Millions.

During 2006, he co-presented the BBC One early-evening magazine program, The One Show, where he interviewed famous personality including Prime Minister Gordon Brown and political leaders David Cameron and Nick Clegg. His last appearance in the show was his favorite guest from the program rock singer Robert Plant, on 30th April 2010.

From 2006-2009, he worked for the popular UK based TV show, The Apprentice: You’re Fired!

His career in BBC Sport started when BBC won the rights to Premier League Football. He hosted the Match of the Day 2 and become an integral part of BBC Three’s African Cup of Nations coverage. He also presented the BBC’s Euro’s 2008 coverage and anchored the morning 2008 Olympic coverage from Beijing.

Later, he had a four-year contract with ITV with the salary of £1 million per year and left BBC in 2010. He presented the shows Daybreak and That Sunday Night Show on ITV. His contract with ITV ended on 20th April 2014. He also signed a new contract to purely host ITV’s Football coverage and on 23rd January 2015, he left the show.

Apart from TV shows, he has presented his own radio show, Radio 5 Live, for which he was awarded the sports category Gold Medal at the Sony Radio Academy Awards in 2002. He has also hosted the program 5 Live Daily along with Peter Allen.

 Moreover, he will co-present Adrian and Christine’s Friendship Test, one of the documentary series with Christine Bleakley, which will be aired on BBC Northern Ireland in 2017.

Personal Life

Adrian has married twice. His wife was Jane Garvey, a presenter of Woman’s Hour on Radio 4. The pair had tied the knot in September 1998 in the city of Swansea. The husband and wife were considered as BBC’s golden couple. They together had two daughters Evelyn and Sian.They divorced in October 2009.

He then married Maria Walsh in 2011 and has a son from the relationship. His second marriage also didn’t last long and ended in a divorce.

After two failed marriages, he dated Catherine Tate, an English comedian, actress, and writer. The girlfriend-boyfriend dated shortly after their first meeting on his program That Sunday Night Show in January 2011. Eventually, the pair parted ways.

Currently, he is single and has finally decided to take a break from the dating game.
