Ben Volavola is an Australian born Fijian rugby player currently playing for Bordeaux Begles in the French Top 14. He has previously played in the Super Rugby for teams like Waratahs, Crusaders and Melbourne Rebels. He also represented Fiji in the National Rugby World Cup. Volavola is currently committed to his girlfriend, Shailene Woodley. The pair often posts pictures of each other on their social media.
Early Life and Education
Ben Volavola was born on 13 January 1991 in Sydney, Australia to Indo-Fijian father, Dinesh Shankar and Fijian mother, Ema Volavola. His grandfather, Peni Volavola is a former Suva Mayor and former netball representative Vasiti Mea Naqova.
As per nationality, Volavola is Australian and belongs to mixed ethnicity(Indian and Fijian). He spent his early days in Fiji where he learned to play rugby while attending Veiuto Primary School. At age nine he returned to Australia with his mother Ema Volavola and brother Milan.
Returning to Australia, he studied at Endeavour Sports High School from 2005-2008 and attended Newington College from 2009-2010. He finished his Certificate III and IV in Fitness at the Australian Institute of Fitness in 2012. He also earned a BUsiness Diploma with the Australian Vocational Training Academy.
Career
Ben Volavola started off his professional rugby player in 2013 playing for the Waratahs. He earned a spot in the team, performing for Southern Districts in the Shute Shield. In 2011 he represented Australia Under 20 in IRB Junior World Championship in Italy.
He always dreamed of playing for Fiji which he fulfilled making a debut in the 2015 mid-year rugby union international against Maori All Blacks. In the 2015 World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup, he represented Fiji starting at 10 playing against Tonga.
Volavola made Fiji's 31 man squad for the Rugby World Cup 2015, hosted in England and Wales. He played against the group's biggest team England, Australia, Wales and Uruguay, losing against the first three teams.
In 2016 Super Rugby season, Volavola signed with Crusaders. Signing with Melbourne Rebels, he played for the club for only one season.
In October 2017, he shifted to French Top 14 club Bordeaux Begles after his professional career in the Super Rugby, NRC, and Mitre 10 Cup. The official announcement was made in November 2017 and joined his Fijian teammate Peni Ravai.

Ben Volavola is currently in a relationship with Shailene Woodley, an actress. Their love affair was confirmed only after Woodley in Jan 2018 posted a picture of Volavola with the caption Damn I love him.
However, the rumors about their dating started in October 2017 after the two were spotted multiple times. At the time Woodley was filming for the movie Adrift. Since then the couple has posted many pictures on social media.
Previously, Volavola was reportedly in a relationship with Jacqueline Wieser, a Fiji based photographer, according to her social media. In one of her post, she wrote of Volavola as being her soulmate and best friend. She also said he saved her soul and they are going strong since past six years. Her last update was in May 2017, and as of now her Facebook and Twitter have been deleted.
