Francis Fisher Biography

Early Life and Education

Frances Fisher was born Frances Louis Fisher on May 11, 1952, in  Milford on Sea, Hampshire, England, UK to Olga Rosine and William Irving “Bill” Fisher. Her father belongs to Russian-Jewish and Hungarian-Jewish descent whereas her mother is of Norwegian ancestry, hence she is of Mixed ethnicity.

Because of her father's job, she had to travel a lot and she moved nine times before she was 15. She lost her mother at the tender age of 15 and took all the responsibility to raise her younger brother.

Fisher joined Lutcher Stark High School. She used to perform in theater productions at school and later worked as a secretary.

Career

Acting is her passion since her childhood days and to follow her dream Frances Fisher moved to New York City where she began her career in Theatre. There she became a member of Actors Studio and studied with Lee Strasberg. She worked in theaters for 14 years before debuting on TV.

In 1976, Fisher debuted on TV with ABC daytime soap opera The Edge of Night where she played the role of Detective Deborah Saxon, the show ran for 5 years. Later she was cast in the CBS's Guiding Light as Suzette Saxon and appeared on Newhart, Matlock and In the Heat of the Night. 

Fisher gained recognition for her work in the television film Lucy & Desi: Before the Laughter as Lucille Ball. She has acted on several TV series including; Glory Days, The Lyon’s Den, Just As I Am, Eureka, Resurrection, The Law of Non-Contradiction and much more.

After receiving a positive review of her work on television she enrolled herself in movies too. In 1983 Fisher debuted in big screen with Can She Bake a Cherry Pie?. She had appeared in Pink Cadillac opposite actor, Clint Eastwood in 1989, and the duo began a six-year offscreen relationship.

Later she was seen in films in major and independent roles. She portrayed the character of Kate Winslet's mother in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic. Her other screen credits are; Crime (1999), House of Sand and Fog (2003), The Kingdom (2006), The Lincoln Lawyer (2011), Woman in Gold (2015).

Personal Life

Frances Fisher is possibly single in the current days but previously she was married. In 1970, she tied the knot with her high school sweetheart, Billy Mack Hamilton at age 18. After two years they divorced.

Later she was romantically involved with actor Clint Eastwood. The duo was together for six years and shared a daughter, Francesca Eastwood, born in 1993.

Frances Fisher, 65 has earned an impressive sum of net worth from her acting career. In 2015, her estimated net worth was around $145 million and till date, it has risen up.
