Meredith Vieira is an American journalist and television host best known as a moderator of the ABC talk show The View (1997-2006) and co-host in NBC news Today (2006-2011). Meredith was born in Providence, Rhode Island to mother Mary Elsie, a homemaker, and father Edwin Vieira, a medical doctor. She grew up in East Providence along with three elder brothers and attended Tufts University graduating with a degree in English.
Meredith Vieira worked as a host on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire from 2002 to 2013. She is the winner of two Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Game Show Host. Vieira is also involved in the charitable organization Windows of Hope Family Relief Fund. Meredith is married to Richard M. Cohen, a journalist, who she met and dated during her professional career and has three children with him. As of now, there are no signs of their separation.
