South Korean dancer and singer, Park Jimin is well known as one of the members of famous K-pop group BTS(Bangtan Boys or Beyond The Scene). The boy band consists of seven members including Jimin, namely Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, V, and Jungkook. He is also an actor who appeared in the Arirang show After School Club on more than one occasion.
Early life and Education
Park Jimin was born on 13th October 1995, in Busan, South Korea. He is Asian by ethnicity and holds Korean nationality.
Jimin is the eldest child of his parents and has a younger brother, Park Jihyun born in 1997. His brother, Jihyun appeared in Jimin’s vlog. His father has a cafe named Alice’s Table in Busan.
Jimin went to the Busan Performance Art High School. He took up Dance Performance and graduated in 2013 as the top seat student.
Career
Park Jimin began to dance popping from 8th grade, and his interest in dancing grew after watching performances of Rain, South Korean singer & songwriter. In November of 2012, he auditioned for an entertainment company Big Hit Entertainment and was selected as one of the members of BTS.
Jimin officially joined BTS on Mnet's M! Countdown as a member on June 13, 2013, along with Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, V, and Jungkook. They released their debut single album 2 Cool 4 Skool on June 12, 2013; for which they won awards like the Golden Disc Awards, 2013 Melon Music Awards, and the 2014 Seoul Music Awards in the New Artist of the Year category.
In 2016, their second album, Wings topped at #26 on the Billboard 200, and also scored the highest chart ranking for a K-pop album ever. Moreover, since their debut, Jimin’s band have sold an estimated 5 million albums worldwide.
Then, Jimin’s band released some albums like Dark & Wild, The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 2 and The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever.
In 2017, BTS became the first K-Pop band to obtain a Billboard Award beating artist like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.
Personal life
Park Jimin is dating Min Yoon Ji (aka. Suga), his girlfriend since 2017. They often share their pictures on social sites.
Previously, Jimin was rumored to be dating Seulgi, a member of k-pop group Red Velvet. The speculation began at the end of 2016 when the two groups appeared in an award show. The two wearing same clothes on the same day and tiny details like a matching necklace, hats, rings, and bracelets, gave fans reason to think the two are in a relationship. However, they denied the rumors.
Jimin is a fan of Bigbang, especially Taeyang. His favorite number is 3, and favorite colors are black and light blue.
