Early Life and Career
Richard S. Trethewey was born in 1956 in Dedham, Massachusetts. In his early days, Tretheway was involved in his family business, Tretheway Bros.Inc., running in Boston-area since 1978.
Producer Russell Morash thought to create home improvement show in 1987 and included his father Ron Trethewey who runs a plumbing and heating business in the show ‘This Old House’ for one season.
Richard made his debut in ‘This Old House’ in the year 1980. He took the place of his father in the show. The show answers the queries of viewers regarding plumbing and HVAC. Trethewey also visited viewers home occasionally.
Richard is a licensed master and journeyman plumber in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He is a career-minded person deeply involved in his work.
Later Trethewey appeared on the Emmy Award-winning show’s sister series ‘Ask This Old House.' He also featured in ‘Inside This Old House.' Presently he is President of manufacturer’s representative company RST (Thermal) Inc. RST. It is representative for several lines of plumbing and HVAC equipment ranging from pipes to complete systems. The company also provides training to the skilled trades and is on the editorial board of ‘This Old House’ magazine.
