Skylene Montgomery met her partner Sean Payton during a National Football League game between the Panthers and the Saints. At the time, Skylene used to work at Ochsner Medical Centre in Gastrointestinal Intensive Care Unit.

Montogomery asked one of her friends for a match ticket; instead, her pal handed her Sean's number. The two began dating in 2012. Surprising everyone around, Sean asked his lady love to be his wife at the French Quarter restaurant, Longway Tavern in New Orleans.

Payton expressed his feeling for her during a celebration honoring Saint owner Gayle Benson's 15th anniversary, and Skylene happily accepted the proposal on November 8, 2019. The duo walked down the aisle at the One & Only Palmilla resort, a grand resort on the tip of Mexico's Baja Peninsula.

The bride donned a white lace gown with a veil for a big day, and Sean boasted a white wedding suit with Nike shoes. The ritual occurred in a white-washed chapel on the resort's ground floor. Similarly, the wedding cake was designed with a black Cadillac.

Skylene Montgomery is Sean's second wife, as he was previously married to Beth Shuey. The former pair shares two children, Meghan Payton, born in 1997, and a son, Connor Payton arrived in 2000. Their life looked complete with adorable kids, but the perfect picture was short-lived.

On June 14, 2012, nearly twenty years after their marriage, Sean filed for divorce from Beth because of a "conflict of personalities."  In the legal document, he requested joint custody of their two kids.

Afterward, Beth asked for primary custody of their children and exclusive rights to make other decisions, including their education and medical care on their behalf. Due to Payton and Shuey's different requests, the divorce was finalized nearly two years after filing in 2014.
