Early Life and Education

Sterling Shepard was born Sterling Clay Shepard on 10th February 1993 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma under the birth sign Aquarius. As per nationality, Shepard is American, and as far as his ethnicity is concerned, he is African-American.

His parents, Derrick Shepard (former football player) and Cheri Shepard raised him with his siblings- Ashleigh Shepard and Shelby Shepard. Shepard completed his schooling from Heritage Hall School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

While playing for his high school team, he rushed 1115 yards and made 2335 yards and 38 touchdowns. He also rushed 303 yards and made 8 touchdowns as a senior.

Shepard ability got him selected for the Under Armour All-American Game. ESPN.com, Rivals.com, Scout.com, and 247sports.com rated him as a four-star recruit.

Later, Shepard attended the University of Oklahoma. In 2012, he played as a freshman in all 13 games with four stars. After a year, as a sophomore recorded 51 receptions for 621 yards. He suffered a groin injury after recording 49 receptions for 603 yards and 7 touchdowns. In 2015, he played in all 14 games with 86 receptions for 1288 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Career

Sterling Shepard started his professional career after being drafted by the New York Giants in the 40th overall pick in 2016 NFL Draft. Shepard played for the team as a starting wide receiver with Odell Beckham Jr.

During the Giant's season opener against, Dallas Cowboys, he made his first career touchdown on a nine-yard pass from American footballer, Eli Manning. The following week, he along with team won the match against the New Orleans Saints 16-13.

The Giants first loss was against the Washington Redskins. On November 6, 2016, in a game against Philadelphia Eagles, he made 3 receptions for 50 yards and a 23-yard touchdown.

In a match against the Chicago Bears, Shepard made five catches for 50 yards and a touchdown, his third game in a row with a touchdown. He completed the season with 65 receptions for 683 receiving yards and 8 receiving touchdowns. At the end of the season, Shepard was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

Shepard missed most of the games in 2017 season due to his migraine problems. While playing against the San Francisco 49ers, he made his career’s highest of 11 receptions for 142 receiving yards; his team won 31-21.

In the 15th week, Shepard played against the Philadelphia Eagles, where he set a new record with sixteen receptions.

Personal Life

Sterling Shepard is unmarried and has no children. Shepard is currently, in a relationship with a model, Chanel Iman. The couple met for the first time at the birthday party of Victor Cruz, American football wide receiver. The couple started going out and eventually dated in 2016.

They even collaborated on New Era’s official NFL Sideline Collection. On 3rd December 2017, the couple announced their engagement via Instagram by posting a picture with a caption,

''A night full of tears of happiness I’m beyond excited to spend the rest of my life with you @sterl_shep3 you are my soulmate, my best friend, my everything! Can’t wait to be your Mrs.''

They are now all set to get married, however, has not revealed anything regarding their wedding plans.

However, the exact amount is not made official yet. Shepard earns a basic salary of $990,416 in 2018. For the season, the cap hit amount is set to $1.6 million and dead cap amount is set to $1.2 million. 

On May 6, 2016, Shepard signed a four-year contract of $5.94 million with the New York Giants including $2.52 million bonus and $3,243,532 guaranteed amount.
