American rapper, Terry Sanchez Wallace is best known by his stage name Tee Grizzley. He rose to fame after the success of his first single, First Day Out which was released in 2016 which gained over 2 million views in less when three weeks. The popularity of song led him to signs a record deal with 300 Entertainment & Atlantic Records in 2017. The year later, he released his debut album, Activated which peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 200.
Early Life of Tee Grizzley
Tee Grizzley was born Terry Sanchez Wallace on March 23, 1994, in Detroit, Michigan, the United States. He was raised by his grandmother due to the fact that his parents were constantly in and out of prison. In 2011, his mother was sentenced to 15 years for drug trafficking and his father was murdered in 2012.
Grizzley developing an interest in rap music during middle school and later formed the musical group, All-Stars along with his three friends. He attended Michigan State University and was the first member of his family to attend college. But due to poor financial condition, he and his friend began robbing other dormitories and money from students in February 2014.
Later, Grizzley and his friend were arrested but subsequently released. After that incident, he fled to Kentucky on July 1, 2014, but he was again arrested for robbing a jewelry store and sentenced to 9 months for the robbery.
Tee Grizzley's Career
Tee Grizzley began to take rapping more seriously while in prison and wrote the entirety of his debut mixtape. In October 2016, he was released from prison and it was then when he took the name Tee Grizzley and launched his first single "First Day Out" in November 2016. In February 2017, he released his song on YouTude which gained over 2 million views in less than three weeks.
The popularity of the song helped Grizzley to gain fame among audiences and led him to sign to 300 Entertainment & Atlantic Records. In February 2017, he launched his second single, "Second Day Out" and in March, the third single, "From The D To The A" feat Lil Yachty. In April, he released his mixtape, My Moment which was quite popular among audiences and he also received 2017 BET Hip Hop Award nomination for My Moment.
In 2018, Grizzley released his next singles like, "Colors", "Don't Even Trip". The same year, he launched his debut studio album, Activated on May 11 for which he received MTV Video Music Award nomination in the category of Push Artist of the Year 2018.
