William Herman Scott, Jr. is an American weather presenter, author, television, personality, actor, clown, comedian, and radio personality. He is best known for his TV work on the Today show and as the creator and original portrayer of Ronald McDonald. William also served as a DJ and weatherman in Washington, D.C, from 1950 to 1972. Scott is best known for wishing birthday to centenarians each day on NBC’s Today show.
Early Life Of Willard Scott
Willard (b. March 7, 1934)was born in Alexandria, Virginia and attended George Washington High School. Scott showed an interest in broadcasting and at age of 16 in 1950 worked as an NBC page at WRC-Am, NBC’s owned and operated radio station in Washington, D.C. He then attended American University where he worked alongside fellow student Ed Walker at WAMU-Am, the University’s radio station. Scott graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and religion from American University.
Willard Scott's Career And Achievement
He served as a radio jockey and weatherman at various stations in Washington, D.C. from 1951 to 1972. He began reporting the weather for NBC affiliate WRC-TV in 1968. Scott officially ended his 65-year career with NBC on December 15, 2015.
Scott is the author and co-author of seven books, including America Is My Neighbourhood and The Older the Fiddle, the Better the Tune.

Scott was married to his wife Mary Dwyer Scott, but she died in October 2002 due to cancer. These two married in 1959. They had been married for 43 years and raised two daughters together, Mary Scott and Sally Scott.
Willard also has two grandchildren John and Sally. In April 2014, Scott tied the knot once again to his longtime girlfriend. He married his old colleague named Paris Keena in April 2014. They wedded in Fort Myers, Florida at the age of 80. They have been together for about 11 years.
