Carly was diagnosed with autism and oral-motor apraxia when she was just 2 years of age. It was a very difficult moment for a little girl, however, she had a break with her difficulties when she communicated for the first time typing on the keyboard.
She desperately wanted to tell her mother how much she loves her. She made a great effort typing some words but failed to express her feelings. She took help of Ellen DeGeneres to express her love.

She explained the moment in The Ellen DeGeneres Show,
"Every time I tried to explain to my mother that I loved her, she kept on cutting me off or tried to guess what I was going to type on my computer. One day while we were in L.A., I asked a friend of mine, Ellen DeGeneres, to tell my mom that I loved her."
She now uses the power of technology to spread her voice among people and loved ones.
