In the year 2016, Cuba had tried to reconcile with his estranged wife Sara; but she rejected his advance outright. During his appearance on The Steve Harvey Show, Cuba confessed that he tried to reconcile with his estranged wife for the sake of his children.
During an interview, he quotes about his split and attempt to reconcile with Sara;
"Listen, you know how things happen. Things happen, you grow up … I took my wife on a date the other day. Took her to see a movie the other day. Yeah. We got kids, man. We got to keep this together, strong, you know? That’s how I see it."
On January 19, 2017, Cuba Gooding Jr. filed a petition to divorce his wife Sara legally. As per the report, Gooding Jr. is requesting joint legal and physical custody of their daughter Piper and is willing to pay for the spousal support. He is also willing to pay for alimony with money earned from his initial career.
