Roberts revealed in October 2018 how she kept her kids far from rumors that she and her husband were separating. She talked to Harper Bazaar's November 2018 issue,
"[We keep the rumors away from the kids] for the most part. Sometimes we are in the grocery store and I won’t even know something is out, but we’ll see a tabloid and we’ll all be standing there like, ‘Oh, that’s uncomfortable. This is really uncomfortable.'"

Previously, Moder was married to makeup artist Vera Steimberg from 1997 to 2002.
The couple doesn't have kids together.
Signs of their differences started surfacing when he met Roberts on the set of The Mexican alongside Brad Pitt and fell in love on the very first glance. Sources reported that he moved out of the house he shared with his wife.

She wrote,
"Diva, rude, so possessive of Danny, horrible to my father, accused me of selling stories, divided our family in the middle, condescending in front of the family."
She kept her diary in rehab center as a part of a "sobriety process" where Moder and his now wife Julia paid $500 per day.
