The truth about Brooke Shield's married life: The actress has been married and divorced twice and shares two kids with her ex-husband!

From highly sexualized adverts, and naked photoshoots, to disturbing early films, actress Brooke Shields has been famous and obsessed over all her life. Shields was a baby when she appeared in soap adverts, 11-year-old when she garnered critical acclamation as a prostituted child in the film Pretty Baby, and the nation's undisputed crush as a teenager. Shields says leaving the industry to pursue a degree at Princeton University in 1983 wasn't the best decision for her soaring career, but it saved her sanity.  

Brooke Christa Shields was born on May 31, 1965, in Manhattan to actress Teri Shields and businessman Frank Shields. In her over five decades of a nocent stint in Hollywood, Shields has also navigated an equally havoc-wrecking personal life. The Blue Lagoon actress has suffered two failed marriages, a high-profile romance, and a severe case of postnatal depression, and has come out of it all scathed but stronger. In 2021, Shields started her company, Beginning Is Now, an online lifestyle platform for women.  

The Truth About Brooke Shields' First Marriage!   

Shield's first marriage experience wasn't so pleasant. The actress had a few romantic encounters in her early aughts, including with actor Dean Cain, with whom she reportedly lost her virginity. Brooke started dating prolific tennis player Andre Agassi in 1993 and married him in 1997, but only to end their nuptial in 1999. Although not much is known about their conjugal life, what led to its unraveling is a known affair.

"The day after I got married I already knew I was wrong. I loved Andre, but I wasn't sure I wanted the life we led," Shields said in her documentary, Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields. From what Shields said about her sportsman husband, Agassi wasn't a supportive spouse. The Endless Love actress recalls one incident which was a deal breaker. Brooke made a cameo in the famous 90s sitcom Friends, where she played a woman obsessed with Joey Tribbiani, played by Matt LeBlanc.

"In the scene, I'm supposed to lick Joey's fingers, because they're the hands of a genius, and I want to devour them, and I'm a nut," the actress recalls before revealing how her husband, who was in the audience at the time, stormed out and caused a scene at home. "He told me: Everyone is making fun of me. You have made a fool of me with that behavior." The altercation between the two escalated to the point that Agassi ended up smashing all of his trophies in a fit of rage and jealousy.

Shields filed for divorce in 1999 and hasn't connected with him since. "I've never reconnected with him. That was an important stage and relationship in my life, and I don't regret it," said the actress, who later revealed that her ex-husband was addicted to methamphetamine during their marriage, which, Brooke says she believes caused his "irrational behavior." Brooke's documentary, Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields, chronicles her rise to stardom and the fallout of her marriage with Andre.

After her divorce from the tennis player, the Pretty Baby alum wasn't single for long. Brooke has been married to television writer Chris Henchy since 2001. The duo's meet-cute is the cutest we've heard of so far. The actress revealed that her pet bulldog had wandered off at a gym and Henchy came to the rescue. "He was writing for a show filmed on the lot and loved dogs. We chatted and he made me laugh," says Shields.

The couple enjoyed two years of dating bliss before tying the knot in a small ceremony, in April 2001. The couple welcomed their firstborn, Rowan Francis Henchy, in May 2003. Motherhood was a big gift for Brooke, who was exposed to toxic media and public opinion all her life. "I don't think I became my own person until I got pregnant with my first kid," says the actress. But the journey wasn't without its downsides. Shields suffered severe postpartum depression after her daughter's birth. The Suddenly Susan actress recounts a bout where she nearly drove into a wall.

"My mother-in-law called me and said I had dead eyes. I finally said OK to get everybody off my back," Sheilds recounts. Brooke gave birth to their second daughter, Grier Hammond Henchy, in April 2006. The actress's oldest daughter attended Wake Forest University and hasn't taken any professional venture yet. Whereas, Shield's youngest, Grier, has followed in her mom's footsteps to become a model.  Brooke's husband, Henchy, is a screenwriter and producer. Some of his notable credits are Entourage, Spin City, The Other Guy, and Get Hard and The House.
