Diane Kruger's Married Life and Dating History

Actress Diane Kruger has been married and divorced once: The 'Troy' actress is in a committed relationship with Norman Reedus!

Best known for her roles in the epic war film Troy, National Treasures, Inglorious Basterds, Unknown, and The Bridge, Diane Kruger is a German actress. She had a blossoming career in modeling before changing the trajectory to take up acting. Kruger made her acting debut in 2002, and luckily, landed her breakthrough early in her career with National Treasure, and Troy, in 2004. She received the esteemed Cannes Film Festival award a year after her debut for National Treasure.   

Kruger was born on 15 July 1976, in Algermissen, Lower Saxony. Recalling her early years in the village outside of Hanover, Kruger credits for exposing her to the cinema. "I loved her so much. She was the real captain of the boat," says the actress. From her formative years in modeling and early recognition in Hollywood to ranking as one of the most beautiful women in the world, Diane has come a long way. Throughout her stellar career in the business, the National Treasure actress has also experienced some love with fellow stars.

Unlike many of us who are oblivious to our dating patterns and the whys behind our inclinations toward a certain type, Kruger very well recognizes her issues. The National Treasure actress says the lack of a father figure in her life posed many dating problems for her in the past. "I punished many boys for my lack of a father figure," Diane explains, adding "And I'm sure I dated many men who were much older than the men I should have been dating." The German actress jumped into married life a few years before she rose to fame.  

She started dating French actor/director Guillaume Canet in 1999 and married Canet on 1 September 2001. During the years together as a couple, Kruger and Guillaume worked together on a few projects, including the French director's debut directorial, Mon Idole, which Diane says, established her as a character actress in France. The pair's relationship unraveled because of their extremely busy careers, and most of the time spent apart from each other. Diane filed for divorce from the director in January 2006.    

"It had been very difficult trying to make the marriage work as I was never around," the Inglorious Basterds actress confessed. Kruger added, "Ever since we cleared up that situation and have managed to stay friends I feel much more assured. It's good that I'm only responsible for myself. I cannot bring someone else down with me, make someone else unhappy."  

Diane's ex-husband went on to date model Carla Bruni after the divorce and welcomed a son and a daughter with actress Marion Cotillard, who he has been dating since 2007. Diane also found a long-term and meaningful relationship with actor Joshua Jackson; although things didn't work out for the duo. The pair started dating in 2006 and were red carpet mainstay by 2007. The pair were adored for their open conversations about marriage and how it wasn't important for them. And also, for their spontaneous gushy comments about each other.  

"One of the most attractive things to me about Diane is how confident she is in herself as a woman and in her beauty," Jackson said about his girlfriend back then. The beloved couple went separate ways after ten years of dating in 2016. The German actress revealed that their break up was long pending. "You don't break up overnight after ten years," Diane explained, adding, "It felt liberating."  

Who is Diane Kruger Dating?  

Kruger understood the quote Never say never when she fell in love with actor Norman Reedus, who she has been dating since 2016. The Wicker Park actress never dreamt of becoming a mother, but ended up welcoming a daughter, Nova, with Reedus, in 2018. "I didn't want children for a long time. I really liked my life the way it was," the actress shared. She and her daughter's daddy crossed paths while filming their 2015 drama film Sky.   

Kruger revealed that she didn't know Norman before they worked together but thanks to the plenty of intimate scenes in the movie, the couple seemingly connected immediately. "He's so relaxed. He's really easygoing, very gentle," Diane said of her co-star before calling him very professional and kind. The rumors of their romance surfaced at the heels of Diane's divorce from Canet in late 2016, but the couple only went official in early 2017.  

After a year of tip-toeing around the media, Kruger and Norman made their red carpet debut at the 2018 Golden Globes in January, and things unfolded quickly for the love birds. The twosome revealed that they were expecting their first baby, Norman's second, in May and welcomed their daughter in November. The couple and doting parents hit another important milestone in August 2021 as they announced their engagement.   

Known for his roles in The Walking Dead, Death Stranding, Red Canyon, and The Boondock Saints, Reedus, 54, is a Florida-born actor. Before getting lucky with Kruger, he was in a famous relationship with supermodel Helena Christensen, with whom he shares his first kid, Mingus.
