George Stephanopoulos Is Latest High-Profile Victim of CoronaVirus
On 13 April 2020, George Stephanopoulos, the chief anchor for ABC News, announced that he has tested positive for coronavirus.
George revealed his health condition on Monday morning at the Good Morning America show, which he co-anchors.
While talking to his co-hosts Robin Roberts, and Michael Strahan, the 59-year-old revealed that he was surprised with the test results as he has no symptoms in the past few weeks.
"I've never had a fever, never had chills, never had a headache, never had a cough, never had shortness of breath"
The former White House Communications Director, however, confessed that in one instance he had lower back pain, but he dismissed that as a result of a heavy workout session. Also, he mentioned that he also lost the sense of smell once.(Many doctors are reporting that losing the sense of smell might be one of the symptoms of COVID-19)
Though Stephanopoulos was surprised by the test result, most people were not. Two weeks ago, His wife comedian and actress Ali Wentworth announced that she is diagnosed with coronavirus.
In the Instagram posts shared by the "Hardball "actress on April 1, she wrote
"High fever. Horrific body aches. Heavy chest. I am quarantined from my family. This is pure misery."
George and Ali are married for nearly two decades and share two daughters, Elliott Anastasia Stephanopoulos and Harper Andrea Stephanopoulos.
"This Week" host, while discussing his diagnosis with a doctor in the show "Good Morning America" marveled on the fact that though the two people are affected by the same virus. Their experience could not be more different. While George do not felt any symptoms or had difficulty, his wife, on the other hand, felt sick like never before.
Thankfully, Wentworth is doing much better. George revealed there is no fever for the past five days, and she is slowly getting out of the bed, which is a good sign.
George is the latest high profile media personalities to have fallen ill with COVID-19. Before him, CNN's Chris Cuomo and Brooke Baldwin and Jedediah Bila of Fox News were diagnosed with coronavirus.
Though Stephanopoulos is suffering from coronavirus, he is feeling well, so it is likely he will continue to broadcast just like Chris Cuomo who is running his show from the basement for the past week. George lives in Manhattan with his family.
