The Warriors reported on Friday that the MRI exam revealed the incomplete rib fracture and he will be back in two weeks.
Durant said in a news conference that he got a hit on the rib in the match against Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, 11 March. He said,
I got hit in the ribs before, so I thought it was just a slow contusion and honestly I kept playing. It was a little sore the next couple of games, but not something I would worry about. And last game, I went out to close out on the wing and I felt something stretch and pull, and I felt some discomfort.
After Durant's injury, Warriors is not a champion team at least for a next few games. Stephen Curry sidelined due to an ankle injury at least until Tuesday, and Klay Thompson is out until next week with a broken thumb.
Draymond Green also missed the Wednesday's game over Los Angeles Lakers with a sore shoulder.
Durant said there is still enough time to prepare for the playoffs. He had also missed 18 games last season and managed to return only for the final two matches of the regular season.
