Best known for playing the protagonist Elena Gilbert in The CW series The Vampire Diaries, Nina Dobrev is a Canadian actress. Since rising to fame with the supernatural series, which also stars Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, and Steven R. McQueen, Dobrev has become a well-sought actress in Hollywood. Her other notable credits include The Perks of Being a Wallflower, XXX: Return of Xander Cage, and Dog Days.  

Dobrev, 33, is a native of Scarborough, Toronto. Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Nina holds dual citizenship in both countries. Dobrev's fast-growing career is sure a talk among her fans, but the chatter often shifts from Dobrev's work to her adorable and enviable relationship with olympian Shaun White, who she has been dating since 2020.

Dobrev and White might be Instagram's favorite celebrity couple. With their frequent cutesy updates and sweetest tributes for each other, the twosome has proved to be in a serious relationship. Dobrev and Shaun sparked dating rumors in early 2020 when prying fans caught that the duo was always sharing similar pictures. The romance rumors swirled wild when the couple was spotted on a bike ride in Malibu in March 2020.   

The Vampire Diaries alum seemingly confirmed the speculation when she posted a picture of herself giving White a quarantine haircut. "Adding to resume: hairdresser," Dobrev wrote alongside their sweet snap. With Covid-induced lockdown in place and more spare time than ever, Dobrev and White connected with each other, and by the year's end, Nina was celebrating Thanksgiving with Shaun's family.   

White later admitted that he didn't know Dobrev when he first met her. "I actually didn't know anything about her," the Olympian said. White reveals they had their first encounter in late 2019, and romance ensued in early 2020. As evident from the couple's eloquent social media page and as said by White, the pair are bonded by their love for outdoor activities.    

The duo kicked off their relationship with an adventurous safari in South Africa in February 2020 and, just recently, attended the Omega Masters tournament at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Switzerland. The Perks of Being a Wallflower commemorated her boyfriend's 36th birthday on September 3, and anyone can tell the pair are in a for the long haul. "I really picked a winner[ and he picked a booger]," the Canadian actress wrote, adding, "Happy belated Birthday, you weirdo. My weirdo."

Shaun White, 36, is a former professional snowboarder and skateboarder. Dubbed the flying tomato, White's achievements include three Olympic gold medals in 2006, 2010, and 2018 winter Olympics. Born in San Diego, California, Shaun was reportedly discovered by skateboarder Tony Hawk.   

Considered one of the greatest snowboarders of all time, White has won ten ESPY Awards in his career for various categories. White played his last game at the 2022 Winter Olympics in the halfpipe, where he finished in fourth place. White, who also holds the record for most X Games gold medals, announced his retirement earlier this year.  

Citing the lingering health issues and the toll that the sport has taken on his overall health, White revealed he is calling it a career after 20 years. "This has all had its amazing glow to every single decision and every single competition because I've decided this will be my last Olympics," White said after the 2022 Winter Olympics. "There have been some ups and downs on the way to get here. But through all that, I feel I've got stronger and better," he added.   

Outside his sports repertoire, Shaun also has a career in music and acting. The three-time gold medalist plays guitar in the electronic rock band Bad Things, including bass player Jared Palomar and guitarist Anthony Sanudo. Thanks to his podium success in sports, Shaun has had many cameos in shows and films, including Friends with Benefits, American Dad!, and Cloud 9.

Since he retired from snowboarding, White has already dived into his next venture. The 36-year-old is focusing on growing his new athletic lifestyle brand Whitespace, which develops high-end products for snowboarding and snowboard culture. Before Dobrev, White was in a relationship with Phantogram singer Sarah Barthel from 2013 to 2018.

Before Shaun, the Vampire Diaries actress had a brief relationship, lasting only a few months, with the Let it Burn star Grant Mellon. White might be Dobrev's most serious relationship, as, before the Olympian, Nina's relationships with men were between flings and romance.    

She had a thing going on with Glen Powell in 2017 and a similar situationship with Austin Stowell in 2015. The actress was famously linked with Liam Hemsworth in 2014 when the two were reportedly in Atlanta, filming for their respective projects. At the beginning of her Vampire Diaries fame, Nina dated her co-star Somerhalder for three years.  

"I didn't want to be dating one of my co-stars — my goal on the show was to be professional," the actress later confessed. Nina added, "But sometimes you can't help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long, which I did for a long time."
