Musician Ranking Charlery better known as Ranking Roger from the Beat, General Public died on March 26.

Ska Revival's Roger Charlery, aka Ranking Roger, died on Tuesday, March 26, following a long battle with cancer.

Roger suffered a stroke last year and more recently had been diagnosed with two brain tumors and lung cancer in January.

The Ska group issued a formal statement on its social media accounts.

“Sadly Roger past away a few hours ago peacefully at his home surrounded by family.”

As per the statement published in the Beat's website,

"He fought & fought & fought, Roger was a fighter. Sadly Roger passed away a few hours ago peacefully at his home surrounded by family."

"Roger’s family would like to thank everyone for their constant support during this tough time. More to follow in the coming days. RIP ROGER!"

The world grieves in the untimely demise of true revolutionist of Spa crews. His admirers didn't back off to mention their idol, leaving grief and sympathy, following the departure of Roger!

Neville Staples, one of his very special friends as well as the bandmate, who seems truly heartfelt with his friend's demise, posted a brief farewell message on his Instagram post, recalling his nickname, "Roger, Turbo"!

“I’m devastated to lose Roger, my Special Beat partner. @SugaryStaple& I have been privately visiting him & his family, at every opportunity over the last 2 of wks, willing him the strength to recover again. Sadly the fight of the lion’s fire has gone out. My whole band and I are so saddened and I will miss Turbo so badly.”

Back in the '80s, with the help of his friends, Roger, 56, formed the British band 'The Beat'. The band members got entitled as the 'English Beat' in many of the territories due to an already existing band.

Roger acted for the combination of toaster and hypeman, dancing energetically across the stage. Back then, mostly he played percussion while pumping up the crowd along with his widely imitated toast or even raps during the songs.
