Hope Hicks, a longtime aide to president Donald Trump, has announced her resignation as the White House communications director. White House confirmed her departure on Wednesday, a day after Hicks' hours-long interview with the House Intelligence Committee where she occasionally said ''white lies'' on behalf of president Trump. Hicks served as a press secretary within White House for a short time before taking her position as a communications director, which came after a series of high-profile departure last year.

White House confirmed her departure on Wednesday, a day after Hicks' hours-long interview with the House Intelligence Committee where she occasionally said ''white lies'' on behalf of president Trump.

Hicks said in a statement,

There are no words to adequately express my gratitude to President Trump. I wish the President and his administration the very best as he continues to lead our country.

Though Hicks has not disclosed the reason for her resignation, multiple online tabloids have speculated her relationship with the White House officials.

According to Vanity, Hicks was ''emotionally overwhelmed'' by being the headlines during her boyfriend Rob Porter's domestic abuse scandal. Moreover, one of Hicks's friend told revealed another major factor in Hicks's exit was her deteriorating relationship with Chief of Staff John Kelly.

Later, president Trump released a statement where he said,

Hope is outstanding and has done great work for the last three years.

He continued,

She is as smart and thoughtful as they come, a truly great person. I will miss having her by my side but when she approached me about pursuing other opportunities, I totally understood. I am sure we will work together again in the future.

The White House had said it is yet to be determined the date of Hicks's departure, but it said she might leave in the coming weeks.

Ms. Hope Hicks, who joined Trump's presidential campaign in 2016, was one of his longest-serving and most trusted advisers. Meanwhile, she was the last remaining member of Trump's original inner circle of senior staff at the White House.

Hicks had no political experience when she joined Trump's campaign; however, in no time, she became one of his closest confidantes.
