The chef first met his wife when famous chef Rocco DiSpirito introduced them in 2003 at the Sundance Film Festival. In 1998, Florence decided to spread his wings on the chef world on his own, becoming executive chef of Cibo. He eventually opened up Cafeteria in Manhattan's up-tone Chelsea neighborhood. It worked wonders for the chef and led to various guest appearances on a variety of shows on the Food Network. A year later, Florence was signed to host the cable network's Food 911 and he also hosted How to Boil Water, Tyler's Ultimate, The Great Food Truck Race and various other Food Network specials.
People magazine titled Florence the "sexiest chef alive" in 2003. Florence also prides himself on being an all-American cook who has his term with simple flavors and fresh ingredients. The handsome chef owns kitchen retail stores, Tyler Florence Shop and also co-owns a line of organic baby and toddler food, Sprout.
