Warner Bros. Studios is showing its support to the "Black Lives Matter" Movement and George Floyd's death protest by making "Just Mercy" free to stream for the whole month of June.
In early Tuesday morning, Warner Bros. Studios, who owns the copyright of the movie "Just Mercy" informed that the film would be free to stream in the month of June on digital platforms in the US. Also, they provided the reason for making this decision through the official twitter handle of the movie. In the tweet, the company wrote,
“We believe in the power of story. #JustMercy is one resource we can offer to those who are interested in learning more about the systemic racism that plagues our society."
Furthermore, WB added that they want viewers to learn about the past of the USA and the countless injustices that happened in the nation, which has led us to where the country is now.
Just Mercy tells the true story of Walter McMillian, an African-American man in Alabama, who, with the help of young defense attorney Bryan Stevenson appeals to his murder conviction.
In the movie, Walter is played by Academy award-winning actor Jamie Foxx and "Black Panther" famed actor Michael B. Jordan plays the role of attorney Stevenson. The film also features Brie Larson, Rob Morgan, and Tim Blake Nelson in important roles.
The film, which was released on January 17, 2020, is both a commercial and critical success. The film earned $50.4 million against the budget of $25 million. Also, the film has an 83% rating in Rotten Tomatoes and A+ CinemaScore. In addition, this racial drama and the stars of the film were nominated for many awards.
