UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson Tests Positive for COVID-19
Coronavirus once again proves that it does not discriminate against anyone based on race or class. No one is safe from Coronavirus, not even the prime minister of the world's sixth-largest economy.
On Friday, March 27, 2020, Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, tweeted a video message and revealed that he is tested positive for coronavirus.
In the two minute video, the 55-year old informed that he started developing mild symptoms such as cold and cough on Thursday. Furthermore, his Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Whitty advised him to take the test, and it came positive.
Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus.

I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus.

The former Mayor of London also mentioned that though he is self-isolating at his residence, he will continue to work and govern the country with the help of "the wizardry of modern technology."
In the video, Johnson also thanked the staff of the National Health Service(NHS), who are fighting against the disease and saving lives. Also, he showed gratitude to all the policemen, volunteers, and members of the society who are helping to keep the country move.
Johnson, who is also the leader of the Conservative Party, reassured all the citizens of the UK that they would win this war against novel coronavirus. He, nonetheless, reminded that the win is only possible when people comply with the guidelines provided by the health officials.
The father of five children though, provided all the details about his health, but he is yet to update about the health status of his partner Carrie Symonds who lives with him at 10 Downing Street. The pair revealed in late February that they are engaged and expecting a child in the early summer.
Boris Johnson became the first head of government to reveal to be suffering from COVID-19. Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, and Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, are in self-isolation but were not tested positive for coronavirus.
Johnson is not the first high profile person in the UK to be a victim of coronavirus. Last week, actor Idris Elba revealed that he is suffering from COVID-19, and earlier this week, Prince Charles was tested positive for coronavirus.
