In a 2020 interview, Patitz said," Patitz was born in Hamburg to a German father and Estonian mother. In 1983,  as a 17-year-old competitive horse rider and tomboy, she stepped into an Elite Model Contest in Stockholm. Success didn't happen overnight, as she had no work for a year.
