Renowned Indian Chef Floyd Cardoz No More; Was Diagnosed with Coronavirus
Acclaimed Indian chef and restauranter Floyd Cardoz dies after he was diagnosed with Coronavirus.
Right now, with the whole world battling the deadly pandemic disease Coronavirus, hundreds and thousands of people have been infected and killed over 21,000 so far. One such person who has lost his life from Coronavirus is celebrity chef Floyd Cardo.
On March 25, 2020, a statement from Hunger Inc. Hospitality where Floyd was serving as the culinary director read:
"It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing away of Chef Floyd Cardoz."
The Season 3 "Top Chef Masters" winner had earlier tested positive for Coronavirus on March 18.
On March 8, 2020, upon returning from his trip to his birthplace India via Frankfurt, Germany, to New York. He was in India to film for his new Netflix documentary series "Ugly Delicious" with actor Aziz Ansari.
A few days later, Floyd started to have a fever and later admitted himself at Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, New Jersey, in New York on March 17.

The results of his samples came out positive on March 18. After finding that he had contracted the novel Coronavirus, the Indian chef informed about his condition with a short post on his Instagram where he wrote:
"Sincere apologies, everyone. I am sorry for causing undue panic around my earlier post. I was feeling feverish and hence as a precautionary measure, admitted myself into hospital in New York. I was hugely anxious about my state of health, and my post was highly irresponsible, causing panic in several quarters. I returned to New York on March 8 via Frankfurt."
He passed away at New Jersey's Mountainside Medical Center on March 25. He was 59 years old. The doctors, however, are yet to confirm whether he died from the deadly disease or if Cardoz had any pre-existing medical illness.
Born and raised in Mumbai, India, initially planned to become a biochemist, his passion for food became inseparable after he started cooking for himself. Later, he went to study at Les Roches culinary school in Switzerland before moving to New York City.

Floyd worked as the executive chef at Tabla, which he opened in partnership with American restaurateur Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group in 1998. Furthermore, he also had restaurants and sweet shops in Mumbai.
Upon his death, many of his fans, colleagues, and fellow chefs gave their tributes and condolences to him and his family.
The extraordinarily talented chef is survived by his mother, Beryl Cardoz, wife Barkha Cardoz, and two sons, Justin Cardoz and Peter Cardoz. Our thoughts and deepest heartfelt condolences go to Cardoz's family!
