Jennifer Aniston's Father, John Aniston, Dies at the Age of 89

Jennifer Aniston's father, John Aniston, is dead at 89: The Greek-American actor was best known for his role in 'Days of Our Lives.'

John Aniston was a veteran television actor best recognized for his role as Days Of Our Lives Victor Kiriakis, a role he portrayed for over three decades. On November 11, 2022, Mr. Aniston passed away, aged 89. John's famous daughter, Jennifer Aniston, was the first source to announce the actor's demise. A native of Crete, Greece, John's family immigrated to the States when he was two. He had Jennifer with his first wife, the late actress Nancy Dow. John shared a son, Alexander, with his second wife, Sherry Rooney.  

Penning a sweet tribute to her father, the Friends alum wrote, "Sweet papa, John Anthony Aniston. You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace — and without pain." Jen added, "and on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing. That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now. I'll love you till the end of time." Jen also shares some unseen snaps of the father-daughter duo.  

The Emmy-winning actress's tribute post was quickly flooded with condolences and prayers from her fans and fellow celebrities. Jen's Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow comments with a heart emoji. Actress Lily Collins writes, "sending all the love and light possible and hugs I could possibly give." "Sending you all my angels. I love you, Sister," commented Reese Witherspoon. Kevin Bacon, Kate Hudson, and Aniston's ex-husband, Justin Theroux, also sent Aniston their love in the comment section.  

 John Aniston was best known for his role in 'Days of Our Lives.'  

John's passing was also mourned by the NBC series. "Our hearts are broken over the loss of our beloved family member John Aniston. We love you, John. Your legend will live on," wrote the long-running television soap opera on its official Instagram page. "It is truly unimaginable to think he won't be stepping foot on our set again, but it's comforting to all of us to know that he is at rest and no longer in pain," wrote the series' co-creator Ken Corday in his statement.  

While pursuing a degree in theatre arts, John and his Greek immigrant family operated a Diner in Chester, Pennsylvania. John kicked off his acting career with uncredited roles and snagged his breakthrough role in Days of Our Lives in 1970. John's earliest credits include Misson: Impossible, Love of Life, and That Girl. Aniston's latter credits include appearances in My Big Fat Greek Life, Star Trek: Voyager, American Dreams,  Journeyman, and Mad Man. John's passing comes months after the actor was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his role as Victor at the 49th Annual Emmy Awards.   

While John remained absent from the event, Jennifer attended virtually to commemorate her father's career. "This is truly a special moment for me," the Friends star in a statement, adding, "It's an opportunity to not only pay tribute to a true icon in the daytime television world, but it's also a chance to recognize the lifelong achievements of a great and well-respected actor, who also happens to be my dad."
