The Main Reason Why Andrew Garfield is No Longer Playing Spider-Man Revealed

The reason why Andrew Garfield is not playing Spider-Man right now is revealed.

Andrew Garfield played the wall-crawling protagonist for two movies, "The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012) and its sequel "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" (2014). Many wondered why Sony did not cast him to play for another movie, which surprised many fans.

Some assumed the box-office was the leading cause, while others guessed directors wanted a younger actor to take the role. Indeed, the film's number at the box-office was not astronomical, but it was not doing badly either.

Now it has been revealed the actor's absence at an event as the main reason. Sony company's chief Kaz Hirai was supposed to announce another sequel, which was to be titled "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" for a 2017 release. However, Andrew could not make it at the event due to illness as a result of jetlag. The absence of the 38-year-old caused friction between him and Sony, and the company ultimately "let go" of him.

After the Sony hack in 2014, an email relating to the incident was released which reportedly read:

“Here we are about one hour away from our Gala event and Andrew decides he doesn’t want to attend. He has a rather scruffy beard and he just wants to be left alone.”

Asked if he intentionally self-sabotaged, which led to his dismissal in December 2016, the Garfield denied it and told he did not compromise who he was, and that might have been difficult for some people.

After collaborated with the Marvel Studios, Spider-Man was allowed to appear in the MCU films which English actor Tom Holland has been playing since 2016.
