Bern Nadette Stanis has married four times in life. Her first marriage was to a high school sweetheart Thomas Fauntleroy in June 1974. Everything between the two was going smoothly unless they decided to go separate ways in 1978, citing personal issues. The couple remained husband and wife for four years.

Followed by separation from her first husband, In January 1979, Stanis exchanged bows with Brooklyn nightclub owner Kerwin Darnell Johnson. The pair lived together as husband-wife for three years.
