Christopher O�Dowd known as Chris O�Dowd is a well known comedian and an Irish actor. He is best known for comedic role such as Roy Trenneman in the Channel 4 comedy The IT Crowd. His works includes Bridesmaids, This is 40 and Gulliver�s Travels. Chris is currently working in the Sky One television series Moone Boy. He had a recurring role on the drama series Girls and starred in the television series Family Tree.
Early life
O'Dawd was born and raised in Boyle, County Roscommon. His father, Seán, is a graphic designer and his mother, Denise, is a counselor and psychotherapist.
He is the youngest sibling but has always felt older for his age because of his lanky figure which he made use of by playing sports. Chris attended the University College Dublin where he pursued politics and later London Academy of Music and Art.
Career
Chris has struggled to be where he is now. After facing many obstacles and failure, he finally made his career as an actor. O'Dawd started with the Channel 4's comedy The IT Crowd. He then appeared in The Year London Blew Up, the award-winning documentary drama.
Chris also presented himself in BBC 2's Roman's Empire and Red Cap. He played stand-up comedian Tommy O'Dwyer in the 2005 film festival for which O'Dawd was able to win a Scottish BAFTA award. He frequently appeared in many films and movies. In 2014, made his debut performance on Broadway in a production of Mica and Men alongside American actor James Franco.
In 2012 Chris starred and created a television series named Moone Boy for Sky 1. The show was a hit amongst the audience and was nominated for many IFTA Awards. It was also nominated for International Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series in 2013 which it won.
Apart from this Chris has starred in many movies like Bride's Maid, Friend's with Kids, The Program, The Sapphires for which he won AACTA Award for Best Actor and much more.

Chris is married to his girlfriend Dawn O’Poter. The couple tied the knot in the year 2012. The couple had their first child, a son, named Art O’Poter born on 2015.
