Early life
Dawn was born in Alexandria, a historic country of Scotland but grew up in Guernsey. Porter’s mother Carol Rix died of breast cancer at the age of 36 two days before her seventh birthday. Her aunt and uncle raised Porter and her elder sister, Jane.
Porter attended the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts where she studied acting, but she quit in the third year and did work experience on the television series Baddiel and Skinner Unplanned.
Career
Dawn first gained the widespread recognition for the BBC documentary Super Slim Me where she attempted to reach size zero following intense dieting regimes.
She also presented many other documentaries and shows for BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5 and traveled to places like California, Germany. Japan for her shows. She has boldly presented issues of women on her shows. Poter has her television production company Hot Patootie TV.
Dawn also appeared topless in the documentary for Sky 1 called, The Booby Trap, later premiered as My Breasts Could Kill Me, about breast cancer.
Apart from that, she made appearances in Derren Brown- The Experiments named The Secret of Luck, followed by six episodic ads for Andrex Washlets.
