Joey Buttafuoco's First Marriage Ended in Shambles

Joey Buttafuoco found his soulmate for the first time in the American author cum motivational speaker, Mary Jo Buttafuoco. The pair endured a special connection as soon as they met for the first time and started dating ever since. Consequently, they decided to get married in 1977 in front of close family and a few friends. 

The lovers from the late 1970s looked as if they were made for each other. Shortly after their marital bond, they even gave birth to two children. Joey became a father for the first time on March 29, 1983, to a daughter, Jessica Buttafuoco. Interestingly, like her father, she chose a career in acting as well and featured in 'Medias Res in 2017. Later, Joey and his first wife, Mary, welcomed their son Paul Buttafuoco into their small family.

The married life of Joey Buttafuoco was all fine and dandy, until the early 1990s when the actor decided to flirt with a minor. Let's see how the destiny of the Buttafuoco family changed drastically in an instant. 

Joey Buttafuoco in an Affair with 17-Year-Old Amy Fisher

Yes, you heard it right! The fan-favorite actor, Joey Buttafuoco couldn't hold it together as he started an extra-marital affair with a 17-year-old Amy Fisher, back in July 1991. The two met for the first time when the college student went to his auto body shop in Baldwin to repair her car. In fact, the actor had a sexual relationship with the teenager. However, Fisher wasn't pleased with how the actor tried to hide the relationship they shared amidst his marriage with Mary.

What happened next, perhaps, wasn't anticipated by any as the minor rushed into the Buttafuoco residence and revealed the affair she shared with Joey on May 19, 1992. That surely left Mary shocked as the teenager initially entered their house, claiming to be her sister, Ann Marie. Thus, one thing led to another, and Fisher shot her right in the face with a .25 pistol. Luckily, she ended up alive and conscious enough to recognize the culprit who shot her.

Joey Buttafuoco's Verdict: Guilty 

Following lengthy court agreements, Joey Buttafuoco was termed guilty on numerous charges such as statutory rape, sodomy, and endangering child welfare. Although pleaded not guilty initially, the actor admitted how he had sex with Fisher when she was just 16. Surprisingly, his defense was that he didn't know the age of the diva when the event occurred, which is quite shameful.

Buttafuoco consequently was sent to prison for six months; however, he got himself released only after four months and nine days. On the other hand, the court handed Fisher a seven-year prison time for all her sins. 

Not just in the entertainment industry, Joey was a household name in the court as well. Be it for illegal possession of ammunition or auto insurance fraud; he went on probation and prison on a couple of occasions.

Joey Buttafuoco Got Divorced With Mary

The 'Finding Forrester' actor and his first wife, Mary Buttafuoco, completed their divorce agreement in 2003. Unsurprisingly, it was his spouse, Mary, who filed for divorce in Ventura County Superior Court on February 3, 2003. It was a surprise in the first place itself, on how she lived ten years with him following his affair with the minor.

Despite a lot of memories and two children together, Mary grew tired of the relationship because of all the uncalled activities Joey kept getting into. While the actor moved on in his life back to the dating game and getting married, Mary married Stu Tendle in 2012 but the marriage ended in 2018 a few months prior to her second husband's death.

Joey Buttafuoco: The Husband of Evanka Franjko

As the famous saying, sometimes things have to fall apart to make way for better things. Maybe, Buttafuoco's divorce from Mary was a good thing as it led him to date Evanka Franjko and spend the rest of their lives together. The couple tied the knot on March 5, 2005, and couldn't be happier.

While Joey wore a classy black suit on their big day, his wife, Frankjo, looked stunning in a lovely white gown. 

However, the marriage was almost short-lived as not long after the wedding, she filed for divorce. Later, the couple reconciled and she withdrew it.

Joey and his Croatian wife Franjko will enter their fifteenth-anniversary mark in 2020, but that in no way tells the whole truth. The bond they shared was nothing short of drama as the diva filed for a divorce from the ABC actor in 2005, two years after she exchanged the vows. However, things changed gradually, which led her to withdraw her papers.

Thus, the 'False Reality' star looks well settled into his life now, thanks to his children, lovely wife, and numerous amount of therapies. Let's hope it remains this way from now on, and we get the charismatic actor back on the screens.
