Kate's First Partner Committed Suicide

On the afternoon of August 27, 2008, Priestley checked into the Swissotel Hotel in Market Street, Sydney, under the name Damien Barker. At around 2 pm, he jumped from the window of the hotel and committed suicide. The police later found his body lying in an awning.
The death of her partner, Kate, "suffered a breakdown of sorts."
The female writer stated:
"Burying your boyfriend at the age of 30 is not something you expect."
Through an interview, Kate later revealed that only a month before the incident, she pleaded with the hospital authorities not to let Mark leave the hospital.
Due to incorrect media reports and news, there is also a major misconception among people that the break up between Kate and the Changi star led him to commit it. The actress revealed it was debilitating dealing with the false media reports.
Mark's funeral was held at Perth's Holy Family Catholic Church in Como, Sydney, on September 04, 2008. It was a sad end and a great loss of a talented actor. It is good to see Kate has moved on from that incident and regained her happiness.
