Ronald William Howard is an American actor, producer and a film director who first came to prominence after playing in "The Andy Griffith Show" for eight years and later in "Happy Days" for six years. He is the son of Rance Howard, an actor, director and writer and Jean Speegle Howard, an actress. He has Irish, Dutch, Scottish, English, Cherokee ancestry and German.

Ron Howard was born as Ronald William Howard on March 1, 1954, in Duncan, Oklahoma, USA. He is the eldest son of his parents; Jean Speegle Howard, an actress, and Rance Howard, a director, a writer, and actor.
