Selma Blair Beitner now widely famous as Selma Blair was born on June 23, 1972, in Southfield, Michigan, United States. She belongs to white ethnicity. She is the youngest child of her parents, Elliot Beitner and Molly Ann Beitner and was raised along with her three older sisters, Katherine, Elizabeth, and Marie Beitner.

Blair studied at Hillel Day School, a Jewish day school in Farmington Hills and Cranbrook Kingswood in Bloomfield Hills. After that, she enrolled at Kalamazoo College.

She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a double major in Fine Arts and English. After graduation, Blair returned to New York City to pursue a career in the arts.

Blair made her professional acting debut in 1995 and starred in a variety of film genres, including several commercial Hollywood motion pictures, indie, and art house films. She officially debuted acting with children's sitcom, The Adventures of Pete & Pete.

In 1996 Selma entered the film industry, and her first works consisted of several television guest roles, brief appearances in mainstream movies. She gained wide recognition from her breakthrough with 1999 teen drama Cruel Intentions. She portrayed Liz Sherman in the fantasy movies Hellboy (2004) and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) and garnered positive reviews from critics.

Besides that, she returned to television as the female lead in the first two seasons of the TV-series Anger Management co-starring Charlie Sheen. For her roles in movies and television series, she had won numerous awards one of which is Grammy award as the best performer. Besides this, she also dated Kath and Kim co-star, Mikey Day for two years (2008-2010). Immediately after which in 2010, she had an affair with fashion designer Jason Bleick. On July 25, 2011, she gave birth to their son, Arthur Saint Bleick. Unfortunately, they separated after two years.
