Thomas Lennon is an American actor, comedian, screenwriter, producer, and director. He is renowned as a cast member on the MTV’s The State and his role as Lieutenant Jim Dangle on the series Reno 911! He is happily married to his wife Jenny Robertson and together they have a son named Oliver.
Early Life and Education
The talented actor was born on August 9, 1970, in Oak Park, Illinois, to parents, Kathleen and Timothy Lennon.
Thomas attended River Forest High School for his primary education and then joined Northwestern University. After two years he attended NYU and joined a comedy troupe called The New Group.
Career
When Thomas was the member of The New Group, the comedy troupe changed its name to The State. They all worked on the MTV show titled You Wrote It, You Watch It which led to the self-titled series The State. Following the success of The State, Lennon along with Kenny, Robert Ben Garant, and Michael Ian Black, went on to create the comedy central program Viva Variety.
After that, Lennon, Kenney, and Garant created and starred in Reno 911! In addition to all these, he appeared as guest stars in dozens of TV shows, which include The League, Children's Hospital, Party Down, New Girl, How I Met Your Mother, Comedy Bang Bang and Don’t Trust the B--- in Apartment 23.
He has also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Tonight Show, The Daily Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
In 2010, Lennon along with his acting partner Garant made a sitcom pilot for the NBC titled The Strip and after a year, filled in as a guest voice for the robot sidekick Geoff Peterson on the CBS show The Late Show with Craig Ferguson. He has also appeared in several movies including Bad Teacher, Memento, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, Transformers: Age of Extinction and I Love You, Man.
Thomas' voice acting work also includes KIM Possible, Bob’s Burgers, Archer and Planet Sheen where he played a character of Pinter. He provides the voice of Eddie the Shipboard Computer in the film version of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. He was cast as Felix Unger in the series The Odd Couple opposite Matthew Perry.
Apart from acting, he is the successive screenwriter and script doctor. Garant and Thomas released a book about writing for the film called Writing Movies for Fun and Profit: How We Made a Billion Dollars at the Box Office and You Can Too!
