Miller who denied being gay in 2007 came out as gay back in 2013 through a letter on GLAAD's website refusing to attend the Saint Petersburg International Film Festival. He sent the letter as a response to an invitation to the film festival.
The letter was posted on the Glaad Website in August 2013 in which the actor declined the offer and explained his reason for doing so. He mentioned that the anti-gay laws that prevail in Russia which violently prosecute homosexuals raise concerns for him to visit the country.
