Wendy Williams Is Taking A Break from Her Show Due To Health Condition
"The Wendy Williams Show" goes on hiatus once again because of host Wendy Williams's health condition.
Wendy Williams, the host of the talk show "The Wendy Williams Show," informed on Monday that she would be taking a break from the show because of health reasons. The 55-year-old released a statement through Twitter that read,
“Recently, Wendy has been dealing with symptoms from her Graves’ disease which is causing fatigue. In consultation with her doctor and as a precautionary measure, she will be taking some time off as she continues to receive treatment, We look forward to welcoming Wendy back soon and continuing the ‘Wendy@Home’ shows. More updates on a return date will follow.”
Williams was diagnosed with Graves' disease and hyperthyroidism in 2018 and was forced to take a three-week break from the show because of the complications arisen of the illness. Furthermore, because of Grave's, the host has pronounced eyes and thin hair.
During the filming of the show, Williams wears wigs and in-home she usually wears turbans. Also, due to hyperthyroidism, she regularly suffers from vertigo. As a result, she has ditched high heels. Besides the above mentioned two medical conditions, she also suffers from Lymphedema, a non-fatal condition that causes swelling of the lower extremities.
It is reported that during Williams' absence, the show will air reruns. Currently, the show was hosted by the Willimas from her home in New York City because of coronavirus.
In March 2019, Wendy announced on air that she was living in a sober home because of her past cocaine addiction and alcoholism. However, after serving a divorce letter to her husband Kevin Hunter in April 2019, she moved back into the home.
Willims and Hunter got married in 1997 and share a child named Kevin Hunter Jr. Williams divorced her husband after she found out that he had just fathered a child with another woman. The divorce was finalized in January 2020.
As per the court's order, neither Williams nor her husband will pay alimony. Furthermore, Williams will be the sole owner of Wendy Williams Productions. Kevin is asked to transfer all of his shares in the company to the host. Additionally, the couple's New Jersey Home will be sold, and the profit will be split evenly.
