Carrie Ann Inaba gets emotional while sharing her struggles with autoimmune disease on "The Talk". She shared that her battle with several health conditions made her even stronger.
- Carrie Anna Inaba discussed her battle with autoimmune disease on Tuesday's episode of 'The Talk'.
- She explained the cohost of the show that she is in a fibromyalgia flare.
- She was diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome in 2013.
- She went through another health trauma called spinal stenosis in 2007.
Carrie Ann Inaba mentions that she feels " so much shame" while struggling with autoimmune disease.
Inaba, 51, said on The Talk on Tuesday,
"I feel so much shame when I go through these things because I want to be what people see. And people see a healthy person."
"I have all these autoimmune conditions, and I’m in a really bad flare."
Further, she explained to cohosts Sharon Osbourne, Eve, Sara Gilbert and Sheryl Underwood,
"It sounds so silly, but people who have these like invisible illnesses — whether it’s rheumatoid arthritis, or a gastrointestinal thing… I feel so much shame when I go through these things, because I want to be what people see. And people see a healthy person, from the outside."
"I look healthy and I am really healthy — all things considered, but then I have these incredible sharp pains like today [the hairstylist] was doing my hair and he barely touched me but I thought he burnt me with a curling iron because my body is in a fibromyalgia flare."
As reported by the CDC, fibromyalgia is a serious health state where one feels pain all over the body with sleepless nights, fatigue and emotional and mental distress.

ABC TV's Dancing with the Stars judge mentioned that the only reason behind her coming out with her story is to encourage other people with the same issue.
"I want to encourage people because even though I feel shame, I know at the same time I shouldn’t feel shame."
Earlier in 2013, Inaba was diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome which is also an autoimmune condition that causes fatigue and pain in the body. Her diagnosis with Sjogren came six years later she disclosed that she had spinal stenosis. It is a condition when the small spinal cord canal containing the nerve roots and spinal cord becomes compressed.
The American dancer, 51, explained that all of her health issues and the struggles all around helped her to analyze who she is.
"I did a lot of soul searching. I learned about who I am besides being a sexy dancer chick. And ironically, as I let all that go, I found my way back to feeling vibrant and radiant again."
"I love when life throws me something challenging. Because I know something beautiful is just around the corner."
Thanks to all the techniques like acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, yoga, Reiki, and Pilates she adopted in order to cope up with her pain. She's looking forward to her best future days with all the challenges and struggles she overcame and still battling with.
