Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter has been accused of raping an autistic minor in 2001: Get the exclusive story here!
Backstreet Boys vocalist Nick Carter is in hot water after an alleged victim of the singer filed a lawsuit against him, claiming that he raped her in 2001. The lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, reveals the victim's name as Shannon Ruth, now 39. In the filing, Ruth, who's autistic, claims she was seventeen when the All-American crooner invited her on the boy group's tour bus, where he then took advantage of his celebrity and sexually assaulted her. The lawsuit against Nick comes a month after his brother Aaron Carter's death.
Ruth also took to Facebook with the bombshell allegations against Carter. She also spoke her truth at a press conference today. "The last 21 years have been filled with pain, confusion, frustration, shame and self-harm that are a direct result of Nick Carter raping me," Ruth says amid tears rolling down her face. She further adds, "even though I'm autistic and live with cerebral palsy, I believe that nothing has affected me more or had a more lasting impact on my life than what Nick Carter did and said to me."

Carter then instructed his disabled fan to perform oral sex on him and raper her. Shannon, who is now seeking damage from the Backstreet Boys singer, reveals she was a virgin at the time of the incident and contracted HPV from Carter.
Standing alongside her lawyers on the podium, Ruth shared, "After he raped me, I remember him calling me a 're—-ed bitch' and grabbing me and leaving bruises on my arm." The woman says she kept quiet all these times in fear of what the singer might be capable of. Aside from getting justice for herself, Ruth claims her higher goal is to stop the singer from inflicting harm on other young women. "Just because Nick Carter is a celebrity does not mean that he is excused from his crimes,” Ruth said at the press conference.

Shannon's attorney Mark J. Boskovich says there are three other alleged victims, identified as Jane Doe, who have also put their names against the singer in the lawsuit. "Nick Carter has a long history of abusing women," Boskovich said, adding, "Shay is determined to bring Carter to justice. She believes it's worth it to protect other women." This isn't the first time Nick has been accused of sexual assault. The I Want It That Way singer, who is married to Lauren Kitt, was accused of unconsented sex in 2018.
Melissa Schuman, a former member of the girls' band Dream, alleged Carter "forced her into sex against her will." Melissa said, " (she) wanted to lock it in a box in my mind and let the memories slowly suffocate as time went on", but was compelled to come forward after an anonymous woman accused Nick of the same crime. Carter has denied Ruth's allegations and has issued a statement, calling the accusations "entirely untrue."

"Unfortunately, for several years now, Ms. Ruth has been manipulated into making false allegations about Nick," the statement further read, adding, "no one should be fooled by a press stunt orchestrated by an opportunistic lawyer – there is nothing to this claim whatsoever, which we have no doubt the courts will quickly realize."
