Double Murder Convict Rapper YNW Melly Asks For Release From Jail After Testing Positive For Coronavirus
After testing positive for the novel corona, American Rapper YNW Melly asks for release ahead of his murder trial.
YNW Melly says he's tested positive for the coronavirus and therefore is requesting officials in Florida to let him out of his cell ahead of his two counts of the first-degree murder trial. The announcement was made on his official social media.
The 20-year-old's Twitter post read Melly has been "tested positive for COVID-19 today while awaiting his trial in Broward County Jail."
The statement further said:
"He'll be filing a motion for restricted release in hopes of better care due to any jails not being prepared to treat this new virus. He hopes for your support and to recover soon."
The "Murder on My Mind singer " has been behind bars since February 2019, after being charged with the death of his two close friends, rappers Anthony "YNW Sakchaser" Williams and Christopher "YNW Juvy" Thomas Jr. The two young singers were shot and later in hospital succumbed due to their fatal gun wounds. Anthony was 21, while Christopher was only 19 years old when they died.
On February 13, 2019, Melly turned himself in and posted on his Instagram where he wrote:
″No I did not get locked up in Washington, but I am turning myself in today... a couple of months ago I lost my two brothers by violence and now the system want to find justice.. unfortunately, a lot of rumors and lies are being said but no worries god is with me and my brother @ynw.bortlen and we want y’all to remember it’s a ynw Family I love you″
Later on, February 22, 2019, news reported that Demons and rapper Cortlen Henry were connected in the shooting and killing of Indian River County's Sherriff's deputy Gary Chambliss, who was off-duty in 2017.

The "Melly vs. Melvin" hit maker's release plead comes a day after rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine's release from the prison. Takashi was sentenced for two years for racketeering in February 2020, was released from the jail after coronavirus outbreak.
The "Gummo singer " had requested for his release citing his asthma made him vulnerable to the pandemic. His defense attorney Lance Lazzaro told Tekashi will serve the rest of his sentence at home under supervised release.
Many celebrities in the US have been the victim of the COVID-19, and the number of people contracted with the disease has now surpassed 245,380 confirmed cases in the US alone, more than any other country and resulting in 6,095 deaths so far.
