A political commentator and television journalist who was the former chief White House correspondent for ABC and also Fox News senior political analyst. He is the son of George Graham Hume and Virginia Powell Hume. He holds the degree of Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Virginia. In starting of his career he worked for The Hartford Times newspaper company. Between 1970 to 1972 he worked for syndicated columnist Jack Anderson. In 1973 he worked as editor for MORE magazine which is a press criticism journal. In the same year, he worked as a news correspondent for ABC News. He has also made guest appearances in the television show “The O'Reilly Factor”. For his service in the field of journalism, he was awarded ‘The Best in the Business award and also the Emmy Award for his coverage of the Gulf War.
Early life of Brit Hume
Brit Hume was born as Alexander Britton Hume on June 22, 1943, in Washington, D.C., US. to Virginia Powell Hume and George Graham Hume. His father is part of Scottish descent so he belongs to mixed ethnicity.
Hume attends St. Albans School in Washington, D.C and in 1965 he completed his graduation from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
Brit Hume's Career
Brit Hume first worked for The Hartford Times newspaper company and later for United Press International and the newspaper Baltimore Evening Sun. Then he served as syndicated columnist Jack Anderson from 1970 to 1972. Later, he became Washington editor of MORE magazine, a press criticism journal.
Hume joined ABC News in 1973 as a consultant and in 1976, he was offered a job as a correspondent. He received his first Academy Award nomination for his work for ABC's Close-Up documentary program. He was assigned to report on Walter Mondale's 1984 presidential campaign and George H.W. Bush's 1988 presidential campaign.
In 1996, Brit Hume left ABC and joined Fox News Network and became Fox News's Washington managing editor.
