American film and theater comic actor as well as a film director, and author, Gene Wilder is the son of Jeanne (Baer) and William J. Silberman, a manufacturer, and salesman of novelty items. He studied Communication and Theatre Arts at the University of Iowa as well as a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. Wilder died at the age of 83 on 29th August 2016, at his home in Stamford, Connecticut, from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
Gene Wilder was previously married to Mary Mercier on 22nd July 1960 and divorced in 1965. Then he married Mary Joan Schutz in 1967 and divorced in 1974. After divorced with Schutz he married Gilda Radner, a Saturday Night Live actress, on 13th August 1981. Radner died on 20th May 1989 from cancer and after her death, he married Karen Boyer, a clinical supervisor for the New York League for the Hard of Hearing on 8th September 1991. Katharine Wilder is his adopted daughter of his ex-wife, Mary Joan Schutz.
