Michael Hastings was born Michael Mahon Hastings on January 28, 1980, in Malone, New York. He was the son of Dr. Molly and Dr. Brent Hastings. Hastings grew up with his two brothers Jon and Jeff in Malone where he stayed till 11 years of age. His parents moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada afterward and Hastings attended the private preparatory high school called Lower Canada College.

Michael Hastings died on June 18, 2013, on a car crash when his Mercedes C250 Coupe lost control and burst into flames. As per witnesses, the accident occurred around 4:25 am in the leafy Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles and the car was creating “sparks and flames” before it went off the road slamming into a palm tree.
The crash was bad that his whole body got burned and he was identified by matching the fingerprints with the ones that the FBI had on their file. His wife Elise Jordan and close people were deeply heartbroken after hearing about the brutal incident.
There are many controversies related to his death and people have their own assumptions. Some say his death was pre-planned and the CIA was responsible for it while some say he was murdered since he knew more than he should have.
