Early life of Pierce Brosnan

The famous Hollywood actor and producer aka Pierce Brosnan we know today had his own personal struggles back in his early days. When Pierce was still young, his father Thomas Brosnan abandoned him and his family.

Then, his mother left him under the care of his grandparents and went to London to train as a nurse to support him financially. Later his mother married Bill Carmichael and took her son to her home in Putney, London. It was indeed Bill who helped Pierce get his first role in his first Bond movie, Goldfinger.

Brosnan Married Twice After First Wife's Death

Pierce Brosnan endured lots of up and down throughout his marital life. Brosnan was married for the first time in December 1970 to his first wife, Cassandra Harris. Brosnan and Harris shared a home in Wimbledon where the couple lived together until the actress passed away at the young age of 43 in December 1991.

Brosnan's first wife was also an actress from Australia who appeared in For Your Eyes Only, The Greek Tycoon, and Rough Cut. Unfortunately, she was later diagnosed with ovarian cancer that eventually drove her to death.

In addition, the husband-wife had adopted Cassandra's kids from her previous marriages including daughter Charlotte Brosnan (b.1971, d 2013) and son Christopher Brosnan(b. 1972). They also shared one son together named Sean Brosnan who they welcomed in 1973.

Following Cassandra's death, Brosnan then met American journalist and former model Keely Shaye Smith. Life united the then-widower with Smith at a Mexican bar in 1994.

Pierce and Keely tied the knot six months after their son, Paris Brosnan's arrival in 2001, at a fairytale wedding in Ireland. The couple has two children together in total, including Dylan Brosnan and Paris. Their first child, Dylan Thomas Brosnan was born in 1997, and Paris Beckett was born four years later.

Despite all the happiness, tragedy hit again in 2013 when Brosnan lost his daughter Charlotte Emily from the same illness that claimed Cassandra. Charlotte was just 41. Shaye Smith certainly helped Pierce with coming to terms with his losses. The couple is very happy with each other and there is no rumor of them getting separated.
