George Walton Lucas Jr. also known as George Lucas is an American filmmaker and an entrepreneur. Lucas is prominently popular for creating an epic space saga, Star Wars and classic adventure franchise of Indiana Jones.
As long as one is to turn the history of sci-fi adventure films, Lucas will always stand as a patron who went on to redefine the New Hollywood Era with his ground-breaking work of VFX. But aside from that, the stories that were going behind his eminent success were always overshadowed by the spotlight. So, today we'll take a look into how the veteran filmmaker was doing with his married life, children and with many other personal aspects along the way.
George Lucas and Wife Melody Hobson; Married since 2013
Lucas is currently enjoying his marital life with wife Mellody Hobson, the president of Aeriel Investments and the Chairman of DreamWorks Animation. Searching in her profile and you will find that Mrs. Lucas is also an alumnus from the Princeton and 2015's Time's Most Influential Person.
So how come the two respective legends ended up sharing the same journey?
Initially, Lucas and Melody first met at a business conference in 2006, And soon after the couple couldn't help themselves but to eventually go out on a date.
"How else would a financial person and a movie person ever be at the same place at the same time?"
Lucas said during an interview on Oprah's Next Chapter in January 2012.
So, the momentary spark didn't take long to turn into love and the rest was quite inevitable. With their ever growing yearning for each other, Lucas and Melody finally, decided to pledge their vows to each other following their engagement in January 2013.
And the big day came for Lucas and Hobson on June 22, 2013, in Skywalker Ranch in Marin County, California. The extravagant of the film director can't be missed here. For starters, one of the supreme religious officials and Journalist Bill Moyers himself came forward to make it official for the bride and the groom.
And to talk about the guests' list, there's a whole different story to tell from. When you are avant-garde in film making, looks like not even your marriage can't go without being a blockbuster first. To say, Lucas' longtime friend Steven Spielberg's presence in the nuptial was enough to make the ceremony no less than an Oscar.
But the ceremony became the wedding of the season with the further presence of ensembling stars like Francis Ford Coppola, Oprah Winfrey, Robin Williams, Ne-yo, Prince, Mark Hamill, and even Harrison Ford.

With already three adopted children, a son Jett and two daughters, Katie and Amanda, Lucas further went on to adopt one more with his new wife on August 9, 2013. And this time, too, Lucas was blessed with another girl, Everest Hobson.
Although the time span of Lucas' this marriage with Hobson is relatively shorter than that from Lucas' first one, people are already assured that the existing bond is to last till the end this time. As even, Lucas' close friend and a business magnate, David Geffen himself came forward to give the status on Lucas and Hobson adding,
'I've known George a long time and I've never seen him this happy, including the night that Star Wars opened'
And seems like its the one to root for, too. Since their time of togetherness, the couple's common interest continues to bout like it was in the stars from the beginning.
Being said that, Lucas and Hobson are also very active towards the charity. The duo went on to donate over $50 million within just a few years time for several institutions. They also contributed $25 million to the foundation, After School Matters, and further $25 million to a private university for the construction of an arts building.
Lucas' Previous Marriage
Although, it was the first time for Mellody to say 'I do' in front of a man, Lucas, on the other hand, was no stranger to all that wed-lockings.
Long before, Lucas decided to stand on the altar yet again, he was already a divorcee from his first marriage with Marcia Louis Griffin. Griffin was the editor in Lucas' four Star Wars' films and was even the winner of an Academy for the first one(1997).
Marcia and George first met in a documentary project for President Johnson's trip to the far east produced for the United States Information Agency. At the time Marcia was an additional assistant to cut the picture for the then lead editor, George Lucas.

Marcia then and there impressed Lucas with her talent and Lucas eventually asked her out. However, the real romance blossomed in between Lucas and Marcia only after a couple of dates.
Lucas and Marcia stepped ahead in their relationship followed by a wedding in the year 1969.
Though the love was perfect for the two at the time, the hours that were surrounding them wasn't.
There were several factors for their marriage downfall. Some said, Lucas always felt that Marcia was too good for him, making him feel a little insecure while some argued that being attractive, Marcia was in an alleged relationship with another filmmaker Martin Scorsese. But later it came out that she was only also working for Martin Scorsese on “Alice Does Not Live Here Anymore”, and was helping on “Taxi Driver”.
Yet, much later, after their divorce, the reason behind the couple's split turned out to be their hectic schedules and deadline pressure. Lucas worked long hours as did Marcia, but the constant support that Lucas needed, exhausted Marcia even more.
On top of all, the pressure of creating their very own film empire, along with trying to conceive a child unsuccessfully also took an emotional and physical toll on Marcia and Lucas.
And once the beloved Hollywood duo evidently parted their ways in 1983.
Following his divorce, Lucas was also in a short relationship with singer Linda Ronstadt in the 1980s. But neither Lucas nor Linda once came forward to say much on this matter.
